Benji - ESPN 30 For 30 Premiere

Benji, the brand new 30 For 30 documentary that features over sixty of my illustrations will premiere this Tuesday at 8pm.

The documentary, directed by Coodie & Chike of Creative Control, is set in early 1980’s South Side Chicago and chronicles the rise of beloved high school basketball phenom Ben Wilson as well as his senseless murder the day before his senior season.

Thanks to producer, Ted Schillinger for bringing me on board.

Character Studies

A few character samples for an upcoming project with Vogel & Wishart

I’ll post some more soon.

Vice Presidential Debate

Tonight, Biden and Ryan had a solid go at it. Ryan was articulate and didn’t blow his coif with smarm-rage when he was challenged.  Biden stayed on point and dispensed chuckles instead of the usual faux pas.  Well done, boys.  Now if you’ll excuse us, there’s post-season baseball on.

Pants On Fire

The election of 2004 was the first time that I enthusiastically participated in the democratic process.  The election of 2008 was the first time when I actively researched and willfully aligned myself with a party.  But the coming election of 2012 is the first one in which my naiveté has dissipated and I have begun to see the duplicity of the presidential role.  The oval office, a pulpit from which countless speeches of awe-inspiring eloquence have been delivered to the American people, is also the very same spot in which back-room deals with agendas opposing those of the electorate are brokered.

Who Is Sam Bacile?

For the past two days, everyone is pondering the identity of elusive filmmaker Sam Bacile, creator of “The Innocence Of Muslims” which resulted in retaliations by angered Libyans and Yemenites against American embassies. Is he a Christian activist? An Israeli developer? A critical Muslim? Or just another troll?

I’ve contributed a new piece to the 52 Shades Of Greed project in which illustrators offer a visual breakdown of the twisted relationship between Wall Street and Washington via playing cards. The project, coordinated by Marc Scheff and Daniel Nyari, is to commemorate the year anniversary of Occupy Wall Street and bring a general awareness to those who may not be fully aware of the forces complicating the American economy.
